Before there can be peace, the ground must be laid with multi-lateral admissions of fault. Then others can take courage from brave confessions offered by their opponents. Other parties to strife can cautiously step forward with their own acknowledgements of failings. As they draw closer together, laying aside their fears of conflict, they can summon pride in taking ownership of their own guilt; in the knowledge that no nations can be built on lies. Just solutions for reparations and forgiveness can eventually be accepted by all. Then the healing can begin.
