Food Talks

These food-loving cultural talks look like a welcome break from world worrying! They return us to the pleasures of our daily lives, reconnect us with basic realities made more delicious by sharing. (Penstorm)

With thanks for this piece to A-Little Bird.

N.B: These TALKS ended 25 March 2015, but there will be another one coming along in due course!

Milk Tea BreadMilk, Tea and Bread are staple ingredients probably found in every household in Britain. Three debates taking place in Borough Market this month seek to investigate how healthy and sustainable these essentials are and how much we really know about them. Each talk is moderated by a famous food writer: Milk by Bee Wilson, Tea by Sybil Kapoor and Bread by Joanna Blythman. Excitingly, speakers have been chosen from across the food industry and include Steve Hook of raw milk company Hook & Son; Nick Kilby, founder of Tea Pigs and Aidan Chapman, master baker at Bread Ahead.

The events are a collaboration between Borough Market and Toast, an event company set up by the journalist Miranda York. Toast has already produced an annual publication, Toast magazine, and Milk Tea Bread is their first series of events this year.

Tickets cost £15 per event, or £40 for all three, and include the debate and all food & drink, along with tastings from Borough Market Traders.
